If the day is cloudy
Show up anyway.
When you don't really want to go

When you are too tired
Show up anyway.

A surprise may be awaiting you.
Or a stranger may be glad you came.
Someone might make you laugh,
Or tell a story you will remember,
Or give you the understanding
You need right now.

I was reluctantly going to a meeting
Feeling shy, hoping to become invisible.
A friend going to the same meeting
Looked happy, alert and confident.
I asked for her secret.
‘I see the room, she said,
Full of friends I haven't met yet.'

And that has made all the difference!
