David Barr, from Eastside FM’s Tuesday Drive talks with Carmel Shaw of Cana Communities regarding our call out for new volunteers at our St. Francis Shelter in Redfern. 

Our shelter seeks to help those who have hit really hard times in their lives. They may have experienced health, and/or mental health issues, addiction or homelessness, and are in need of community, someone on their side.

Currently, St. Francis is open two nights a week - Friday and Saturday - but given a roster of volunteers, we would love to add additional nights. There are two shifts to choose from:

• Dinner: Preparing a meal, showing hospitality, companioning or just sitting down and having a chat.

• Overnight: Welcoming those in need of a night or two emergency housing (registered via Link2Home).  

Have a listen, our community really is seeking to do more and we can only do this with the help of volunteers.
