Thank you for your belief in Cana’s mission

A message from Julie Sneddon.

To our friends and supporters,

2023 is nearly over and I would like to take the opportunity on behalf of the board, our volunteers, and our community to wish everyone a safe and calm Christmas.

We are blessed to live in a country which embraces different cultures and beliefs, and we hope those who don't celebrate Christmas find time to relax and reflect in a way that is meaningful.

When I reflect on our Cana year, we have continued to listen to the needs of our community and with the financial support, and the dedication of our volunteers, we have been able to keep on with our holistic care.

Most of our men and women have experienced a lifetime of trauma and have complex mental health needs, and many have shared their feelings of frustration at not having access to professional care. From our learnings, we decided to open a hub in Redfern which gave people a place to connect and share a meal. In addition, we have expanded our employment opportunities within the enterprise, paid for education, introduced art therapy and a psychologist for trauma care.

We have celebrated birthdays and contributed financially to funerals for those who have lived rough and have felt completely disconnected. These celebrations are confronting and a stark reminder that we still have so many people who are not exposed to the friendship and care we are.

Cana will continue to identify those with the least options, and we will enjoy learning through these friendships where the real needs are.

We remain grateful for the support and your belief in Cana's mission, and we look forward to sharing 2024 with you.

Love, Julie x
