Meet the new members of the Cana Board!

I am delighted to share some important and exciting news about our organisational leadership with the addition of four new members to the Cana Board.

Lucy Steggles: With over fifteen years in strategic planning, business development, and philanthropy, Lucy is dedicated to driving positive social change through roles in the professional services and non-profit sectors. Her work with NEXUS Global Summits and Philanthropy Australia’s Next Gen Program (mentoring young social change-makers) underscores her commitment to social entrepreneurship and impact.

Sr Jwan Kada: Jwan brings a wealth of experience in community engagement and social justice, with a background in prison chaplaincy and youth advocacy. Her work at Parkville Youth Justice Centre (supporting young men in detention) highlights her dedication to marginalized communities and creating positive change. Her experience in nurturing partnerships and community engagement makes her a valuable addition to our board.

Chris Best: Chris brings a rich blend of financial acumen and strategic oversight to our board, underscored by his experience in investment banking and asset finance. His commitment to social justice is demonstrated through his long-standing volunteer work at our de Porres and Teresa (now St Francis) Houses.

Carmel Shaw: With over three decades of experience in the health, education, and community sectors, Carmel excels in integrating mission and identity into operations, nurturing partnerships and developing resources. Her extensive work in policy writing, volunteer management, and community engagement aligns seamlessly with our mission of building a just and inclusive society, making her a valuable addition to our team.

Each of these individuals brings unique strengths and perspectives that will enhance our Board’s capacity to lead Cana Communities with vision and integrity. I am confident that the expanded Board’s combined expertise and passion will drive us forward in our mission to support those in need.

Warm regards,

Ian Dardis
