Acknowledgement, respect and new beginnings
I hope the last few months have been less about Covid and more about seeing family, friends, and travel. Cana is certainly getting busier; we are welcoming new residents to the houses and giving our community and volunteers more opportunities to connect.
Cana is opening a new version of Teresa House which will offer fewer bedrooms to suit the new covid restrictions, while still providing the same unique Cana experience, reflection, a shared meal, conversation, and connection. Teresa House will offer stays for women as well as men and therefore, will need women volunteers who are happy to stay overnight and share meals.
Domestic Violence has increased over the last few years, and we would like to feel we can provide a safe space for the women to rest and be part of a loving community. We would love to hear if anyone is happy to support the shelter. Our education team will deliver the required training so please contact info@cana.org.au.
Our enterprise and the farm are ‘blooming’ and we are so proud of the work and achievements of the staff. Without the support of our volunteers and the broader community this wouldn’t be possible.

Blackmores... running festival is back!
Our Cana community is walking/ running together in the 2022 Blackmores Sydney Running Festival and we invite you to join us on Sunday 18 September or sponsor our generous runner through the link below.
Jack Freeman is representing Cana as part of the Macquarie Group’s not-for-profit program. Any donations received will have the opportunity to be matched by the Macquarie Foundation.
Please consider supporting Jack as we hope to raise sufficient funds to provide the ongoing support our community needs. We are not a wealthy charity and though large donations make a difference it is important to know that every dollar contributed is valued in the same way so please don’t feel a small amount isn’t worthwhile.
